I was reading an article about President Obama’s historic level of incompetence and I ran across this line: He [Obama] is the quintessential wrong guy at the wrong time .. And I am sitting here thinking – that just about sums it all up. This president does nothing but ‘look the part’. I am stunned at the gross incompetence of President Obama in the face of the gulf oil spill. I just cannot fathom how anyone could still be in a position of authority with this mess growing into massive disaster day after day. Any other person would be fired and probably facing criminal negligence charges. Instead the man is hunting for golf courses.

Why did building the fence along our southern border stop? Instead of building the fence, Barack Obama would rather build a political party of illegal aliens and their supporters. Almost everyone supports legal immigration where we gradually assimilate newcomers into the population. No previous group, however, has had such a large inflow or ease of access to their home country as Mexican immigrants have today. Now, if people know tax rates will be higher next year than they are this year, what will those people do this year? Monday, May 10, marked ten consecutive days of violence in the streets of Athens. Rioters threw stones and Molotov cocktails at police, while police responded with rubber bullets, batons, tear gas, and stun grenades. Hundreds were injured or arrested and three were found dead inside a bank building set ablaze by protesters. All of us are now aware of the Texas man who yesterday flew his private plane into a 7-story Austin office building. Apparently, he intentionally crashed his plane into the building to target the IRS offices that were housed inside the facility. As I am writing this column just hours after the event took place, there has not yet been a lot of time for the major news media talking heads to spin the story. By the time this column is released on Friday, however, I'm sure we will all have been inundated with copious references to this man, Joe Stack, as being "off his rocker," or similar assertions.

Our Military Can’t Believe In

Many gays and lesbians serve honorably in today's military. That is no secret. It is also no secret that open homosexuality within the ranks could hinder unit cohesion, reduce war-fighting capability, and place our troops at greater risk. No wishful thinking, edict, or State of the Union speech can alter this reality. Closeted gays do not cause a disruption in the military precisely because they are closeted. There is no constitutional right to serve in the Armed Forces. For readiness reasons, the military is selective about who serves based on age, weight, education, family status, physical fitness, and drug usage.

Anyone who finds it acceptable that two or three bearded men dressed in Muslim garb should be allowed to pass almost unmolested through a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint, while my 88-year-old mother-in-law is made to raise herself painfully from her wheelchair to undergo a complete body pat-down, including a thorough inspection of the contents of her bra, is certifiably insane.
