One of the most worrisome social trends today is that many Americans no
longer claim ownership of the Constitution. Every time I write about some constitutional issue, I inevitably hear from some smug liberal scoffing at how "Frank the Constitutional Scholar" knows more than the judges and congressmen who reign in Washington. Apparently we are supposed to be comfortable with the idea of letting President Obama, Harry Reid and the judges they appoint and confirm tell us what the
Constitution means.
By Frank Salvato
The coverage
of President Obama’s most recent nominee to the United States Supreme Court,
Elena Kagan, has been nothing less than incredible. Of course, the word
incredible can be used in several contexts, some good and some bad. To clarify,
I am using it in a context meant to mean bad...very bad...incredibly bad. The
Supreme Court has the duty – the sacred duty – of protecting and defending the
United States Constitution. They are tasked with applying the mandates of the US
Constitution to questions brought before them in a fashion that upholds and
honors the Constitution.

Kagan
by Mark

Barack Obama has nominated his Solicitor General,
Elena Kagan, to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Since
this is a lifetime appointment, we should consider the implications for our
Constitution and for liberty. Will this Ivy League academic be an advocate for
Essential Liberty and Rule of Law, or does she subscribe to the errant notion of
a "living constitution"? According to Obama, Kagan "is widely regarded as one of
the nation's foremost legal minds," and he's right -- if by "widely" he means
among elitist Leftists.

Good is called “evil,” and evil is
called “good.” So it will be with the ensuing Supreme Court confirmation circus
of Elena Kagan. From her lack of judicial experience to her indifference to the
Constitution to her sterling liberal pedigree, Kagan should be a non-starter. In
the world of Washington politics, where failed efforts to advance one’s ideology
are perceived as public humiliation, Obama should never have had the audacity to
risk putting forth such a nominee. Yet he did so, counting on a lack of
dedication to principle from his opposition.

point where they start protesting the government en masse. The passage of
ObamaCare and the impending financial ruin of our country is now one of those
times. Despite immense opposition, Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress
forced through a health care bill, not to improve people's health care but to
expand the power of the state over them. It is the height of arrogance. As
ObamaCare moves closer to reality, we know the resulting intrusion of government
in our lives will not allow us to continue to live as we have before.

The

most critical ones. By far the most critical question relates to his

There has been quite a bit of

President Obama regarding nuclear non-proliferation and the policing of weapons

although there was an “agreement” reached by each of the 47 countries in
attendance, it was not binding and should not be misconstrued as any type of
treaty.

everyone. Simply, you have nationalized healthcare by proxy. Insurance companies
are now heavily regulated government contractors. Way to get big business out of

Joseph AshbyThis morning's LA Times stumbled

they just fought -- and won -- the equivalent of a 100-year war. But if the
Democrats were waging war, who were they fighting? If Obama and Pelosi
won, who did they defeat? Perhaps Obama, Pelosi and the others have won a war,
but if that's true, it is the citizens of this country who they fought against;
it is the American people who they have conquered.

WooldridgeFor 15 years, from the mid 1970's to 1990, I
worked in Detroit, Michigan. I watched it descend into the abyss of crime,
debauchery, gun play, drugs, school truancy, car-jacking, gangs and human
depravity. I watched entire city blocks burned out. I watched graffiti explode
on buildings, cars, trucks, buses and school yards. Trash everywhere! Detroiters
walked through it, tossed more into it and ignored it. Tens of thousands and
then, hundreds of thousands today exist on federal welfare, free housing and
food stamps!

Christopher G. AdamoFormer Education Secretary William

party.” And he is absolutely right for doing so. Such a rift within the
conservative movement at this critical moment would do more to propel the
liberal Democrat agenda to uncontested political dominance than any ploy
envisioned by the left. Yet it appears that, despite such a risk, the movement
is continuing to effervesce among the grassroots.
Some
Tough Medicine for Getting Back to GoodBy Frank Salvato
I just watched an important
video. It was a United News newsreel from December 2, 1945, and captured the
official Japanese surrender proceedings aboard the USS Missouri, proceedings
that brought World War II to an end. As I watched, I wondered how it must have
sounded to my Father, who was fighting in the South Pacific during that time. It
would be impossible for me to be able understand how he must have felt at
hearing Gen. MacArthur say, “Let us pray that peace be now restored to the world
and that God will preserve it, always. These proceedings are closed.”
Counting

SalvatoEveryone can identify with foreshadowing, you know
what I’m talking about, the part in a book or a movie or a play when you have
that sense of foreboding that something isn’t quite right, that the characters
are celebrating too early. Maybe the real killer is still lurking out there,
somewhere, waiting for the right moment to pounce. You’re sitting on the edge of
your seat, wanting to shout, wait, no, be careful! But to no avail. Sometimes,
like in 24, the hero, Jack Bauer, comes in to save the day, just in a nick of
time. Sometimes, as in Silence of the Lambs, the killer escapes the odds and
disappears, no one knowing just when he will resurface. How many reincarnations
of Jaws movies are there?

The
Dead Road of SocialismBy Daniel

be unfair, that families lack the things they need and that people suffer and
die unnecessarily in ways that could be avoided. The fundamental question is do
we respond to such situations by working together on an individual and social

can help-- or do we try to solve the problem with the white elephant government
programs approach of socialism?

Political Skills Built on Hot Air

Most of us learned
from our parents that you don’t put the cart before the horse. That’s most of
us. President Obama apparently never learned that lesson. The latest example is
Obama’s orchestration of a bipartisan healthcare summit to listen to ideas from
Republicans and come up with a new plan. But days before the summit, Obama
released his own version of a healthcare bill that was even more costly than the
ones passed by the House and Senate.

One might think that America and the American people have a death wish, or are

Nanny Care Insults the American Spiritby Michael Barone
You are victims. You are
helpless against the wiles of big corporations and insurance companies, and you
need protection. You need the government to take over and do things you cannot
do for yourself. That is the thinking of what David Brooks calls "the educated
class" that favors the Democrats' health care bills. Members of this elite spout
tales of woe of people denied coverage or care with the implication that there
but for the grace of government go you. So sign on, and the government will take
care of everything.

There is an old saying that goes thusly: "It is a
form of insanity to keep doing the same thing over and over while expecting a
different result." Or as I prefer it, "If you keep doing what you've always
done, you'll keeping getting what you've always got." A valid test of a person's
overall intelligence and common sense is how well he or she learns from
experience and mistakes. Even the lower animals learn from their life

liberals in Washington. For half a century, the American Left has failed to

You cannot tax a nation into prosperity.

been a lot of time for the major news media talking heads to spin the story. By
the time this column is released on Friday, however, I'm sure we will all have

The
Re-Establishment of AmericaBy
Herbert E. Meyer
America is on the verge of something
unprecedented in history: the peaceful, constitutional replacement of our
country's entire political establishment. This is what lies behind the decisions
of so many elected officials, at every level, to step aside rather than fight
for reelection. And it explains how the Tea Party movement can exert so much
political leverage without nominating its own candidates or even without
formally choosing its own leaders.
Our
Federal Government’s Basic Purposeby Frank SalvatoIn February of 2009,

First Amendment right to free speech in the aforementioned circumstance, but to
serve as a tool in guaranteeing our nation’s sovereignty under constitutional
law.

Our Military Can’t Believe In

military. That is no secret. It is also no secret that open homosexuality within

speech can alter this reality. Closeted gays do not cause a disruption in the
military precisely because they are closeted. There is no constitutional right
to serve in the Armed Forces. For readiness reasons, the military is selective
about who serves based on age, weight, education, family status, physical
fitness, and drug usage.
Can
Obama Reinvent His Disastrous Liberal Agenda?By: Christopher G. Adamo
Barack Obama has
initiated yet another response to his declining popularity. Only a year into
what was once trumpeted as perhaps history’s greatest electoral promise of “hope
and change,” the Obama Administration finds itself on the ropes. The American
public is angry and energized as it has not been since 1994, and Democrats in
the Senate and House are looking with ever greater apprehension towards the
November elections. Amazingly, every possible excuse is being offered, and new
plans for the restoration Obama’s public image are floated almost daily.
The
Fall of Barack Obamaby Paul R.

In a January 20, 2010 editorial, the Editor in Chief
of U.S. News & World Report, Mortimer Zuckerman, had this to say: “Obama’s
ability to connect with voters is what launched him. But what has surprised me
is how he has failed to connect with the voters since he’s been in office... And
that’s what his friends are saying about him. As the boy president occupied the
White House on January 20, 2009 it was predictable that his presidency would
last a year, at most, because the things he promised and the things he stood for
were so uniquely un-American.

Courts Are A Threat To Liberalismby Christopher G. AdamoThe reverberations
from Republican Senator Scott Brown’s Massachusetts election had barely subsided
when an even greater shockwave was sent throughout the liberal world. On
Thursday January 21, the United States Supreme Court handed down a decision that

thereby reestablishing the ability of the people to express themselves freely
during election time, and thus to publicly hold Washington accountable for its

political action committees (PACS)… they were prohibited from spending money to
directly promote or oppose the election of individual candidates.

It was an odd week for a staunch conservative to be in
agreement with Barack Obama. In the wake of Republican Scott Brown’s dramatic
Senate victory in Massachusetts, Democrat leaders were stunned and shaken. But
as usual, they quickly gathered themselves and coordinated a strategy of
interpreting Brown’s election in terms that they hoped would minimize damage to
their agenda. And this effort was led, of course, by Obama himself.

of the best examples of Information Warfare from the World War II era.
State

In the wake of Barack Hussein
Obama's1 first State of the Union2 address, much of the critical analysis from
Republicans posited that he should do "this" instead of "that." Unfortunately,
when there is no more constitutional authority for a president to do this rather

parties are then advocating unlawful extra-constitutional policies.

Preventing
“Moderates” From Hijacking The Massachusetts Election
By: Christopher G. AdamoScott Brown’s stunning
victory in Massachusetts has predictably generated comparisons of the current
political landscape to 1994, when Republicans swept the mid-term elections,

while not a single incumbent Republican in any congressional or gubernatorial

an organization that harassed, oppressed, and at times murdered black Americans
is known.

Victory Signals Second American RevolutionBy Joan Swirsky
When Scott Brown gallops to
victory tomorrow, capturing the Massachusetts senate seat made absent by Sen.
Ted Kennedy’s death, it will signal a definitive referendum against all things
Obama – his onerous and discriminatory “healthcare” bill (which an overwhelming
majority of Americans fear and loathe), his failing economy, his escalating
unemployment rate, his out-of-control spending, his accumulating federal debt,

Since the Roe v. Wade decision of the United States

American politics has divided most distinctly around the issue of abortion. In
that decision, the Court held that a woman may abort an unwanted pregnancy, for

technology is the Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA).

Barack Obama is on track to have the most spectacularly
failed presidency since Woodrow Wilson. Barack Obama is failing. Failing

is failing because he has lost control of his message, and is overexposed.

potatoes. However, there is one very practical thing that can be learned from
the fancy dishes tossed about from those exotic chefs of iron and that is the

losing its Constitution which is either ignored or revised by a Democrat
controlled congress and the White House which should be repainted pink.
How
to Accept a Poorly Wrapped Present
By Paul A. Ibbetson
If it has been a
while since you were a child waiting for Christmas morning, or whatever time of
day the parental green light was given for the opening of presents, you may be a
little out of touch with the true magnitude of this event. For most kids,
Christmas is a magical time of both gift giving and gift receiving.
Is
There No Stopping This Liberal Madness?
By: Christopher G. Adamo
Last week,
with comparatively little fanfare, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave away
a hundred billion dollars at the bogus “Climate Summit” in Copenhagen. The sum

EXPANSION
OF GLOBAL GOVERNANCE, INTERPOOL, AND OBAMA
By Michael
LeMieuxPresident Obama has made no secret of his passion for
all things global. Even from the campaign trail where he spoke of being a
“global citizen.” In 2008 he spoke at a rally in Michigan where he envisioned “a
picture of a world where all boundaries are disappearing… not only is it
impossible to turn our back to the tide of globalization, but efforts to do so
can make us worse off”
The
Perverse Economics of Climate Modeling
By Bill
FrezzaAs the dust continues swirling around emails purloined
from the climate research unit at the University of East Anglia, global warming
activists keep insisting that computer climate models predicting disaster
represent "settled science." How can that be when climate models aren't science
at all?
My
Opinionby Arnold
Ahlert
One of the things I find amusing is when people tell
me I'm opinionated—and I thank them for saying so. Their reaction is almost
always the same: a half-beat of confusion arising from the fact that they
consider what they said to be critical, even as I thank them for being
complimentary.
