Dems Don't Understand the War On Terror
Techniguy - 01-07-2006
If we were simply engaged in a typical battlefield type war, then Democrats might get it. But this is not your typical battlefield war, it's really quite different. Just as Dems seem to be having a problem grasping the concept of a post 911 world, so too are they having a problem grasping the concept of the War On Terror.
"[President Bush recently] spoke of Iraq and Afghanistan as 'major fronts' in the war on terrorism, but it was his war of choice in Iraq that removed the focus from Afghanistan and the real war on terror. The President's decision to divert attention and resources to Iraq has allowed the Taliban and their al-Qa'ida allies to continue to attack our troops. President Bush also failed to admit that a lack of post-war planning in Iraq has allowed the insurgents to remain a threat nearly three years after the invasion. We are not where we should be at the start of yet another year of war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our troops and the American people would be better served if the President understood this and put forth a real plan for success." House Demo Leader Nancy Pelosi
This statement from the House Minority Leader clearly shows that she, along with Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, and many other congressional leaders on the left are incapable of grasping the multinational and multi-regional nature of the War On Terror. They cannot understand that this is a war against an enemy ideology of terror that is not confined to one country.
In every sense, it is a war between the free and democratic world, and the world of radical Islamic jihadism. Pelosi says "but it was his war of choice in Iraq that removed the focus from Afghanistan and the real war on terror". Somehow, Pelosi sees this global war as confined to, and only valid in Afghanistan where it began. And now, because of US and coalition action, it must be confined to the caves along the northern Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
So 'what in the world are we doing in Iraq?' has to be a very confusing question on the mind of this poor liberal from California. She must have been way too busy working with NARAL and other feminist groups to assure their "right to abortion on demand" between 2002 and 2004, and missed the whole issue and debates on why we invaded Iraq in 2003 with the support of the House, the Senate, and the majority of countries on the UN Security Council and throughout the free world. As far a Pelosi knows, there are no terrorist in Iraq and Saddam Hussein was a peaceful and gentle, legitimately elected president of an innocent foreign country.
"The President's decision to divert attention and resources to Iraq has allowed the Talliban and their al-Qa'ida allies to continue to attack our troops". Would it be any different in Afghanistan if we had not taken on Iraq? There has been no major troop reduction or lack of resources in Afghanistan since the Iraqi invasion. The remnants of Al Qaeda and the Talliban have fled into remote mountain areas where they are protected by impossible terrain and local tribes where even the Pakistani army cannot go. We watch and wait for them to come out of hiding where we can kill and capture them, and do so on a regular basis. More troops and resources there would serve no purpose. Iraq is not a “distraction” from the war on terror, but just another front in that same war. Oh, that must be just mind boggling for Pelosi to try to understand. While standing guard on Afghanistan, the war has moved on without Pelosi. She never was on board.
"President Bush also failed to admit that a lack of post-war planning in Iraq has allowed the insurgents to remain a threat nearly three years after the invasion. We are not where we should be at the start of yet another year of war in Iraq and Afghanistan." Is this the statement from a military expert, or a moron who knows nothing about war? Were not the Germans and the Japanese sill around and attacking our troops even five years after we entered the war? Where does Pelosi get her vast experience to be able to predict how long it should take to end the war on terrorism on the Iraqi front? Just where does she think we should be as we approach the fourth year of war and reconstruction in Iraq? Does she even know that another year of the war in Iraq won’t begin for another three months? Does she think our president has a crystal ball that should have told him how the Sunni supporters of Saddam and his armies would respond? Maybe we should have let Nancy Pelosi run this war and then it would be over by now.
Yes, perhaps the Bush administration could have done a better job of predicting that Saddam's army would not stand and fight, but run away and hide only to come back later as terrorists. And that Al Qaeda, with the help of Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran would send additional jihadists to Iraq to die. But we've never fought a terrorist war before and didn't really know what to expect, there is no way we could have. In spite of that, our Armed Forces have done a remarkable job in learning as they go and kicking enemy butts in Iraq. They are also doing a remarkable job of winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people and rebuilding their country after not only the destruction of the war, but the destruction of Saddam Hussein. Pelosi gives then no credit whatsoever. She is a disgrace to all Americans, or should be.
"Our troops and the American people would be better served if the President understood this and put forth a real plan for success". Now this is where Pelosi gets just absolutely absurd. I suppose she is still to busy promoting teen sex and abortions to know of the remarkable progress made in the President's plan for Iraq. Now that Saddam Hussein is no longer a threat to his own people and peace in the region, Iraq just held its third nationwide vote to elect their permanent democratic government. Even the Sunnis turned out in masses to participate in the elections after finally realizing that terrorism was not a successful strategy for them. Everyday, more and more insurgents and terrorists are being revealed to the Iraqi and US militaries for extermination.
Iraqi's like their new found democracy and want to keep it. They now know who their real friends are. The new Iraqi military and civil defense forces are growing every day and their level of training has now reached the point to where we can begin to reduce troop strength in Iraq. Before too long, Iraqis will be able to take full responsibility for their own security, that is exactly what the Bush administration planned and is doing according to plan. Don’t tell Nancy… her crazy rantings are too much fun to watch.
The Iraqi economy is rapidly growing and prospering and international investors are investing in Iraqi businesses, they even now have their own stock market. Terrorists are no longer targeting Americans so much as they are now targeting the Iraqi government and industry in their last ditch attempt to discourage the new democracy... it's not working. Terrorist die in their attacks and the Iraqis just rebuild from the damage done.
Since our invasion of Iraq, Saddam is no longer a threat to his neighbors or to the United States and our allies, Syria is out of Lebanon, Saudis are cracking down on Wahhabism, Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi has turned in his WMDs, Iran is under real pressure to comply with IAEA inspectors, and terrorist know they cannot win in the Middle East. Now what was that Ms. Nancy said about the President having no plan?
President Bush and his administration is wise enough to know that confining the war on terror to only one specific area of the Middle East will have no effect on al Qaeda or international terrorism. Pelosi's narrow view of the world cannot comprehend the global nature of the war on terror. And this is the person the Democrats chose to lead their party in the House of Representatives? It's understandable when you consider that they chose Howard Dean as their party chairman, and Harry Reid as their leader in the Senate, who's rhetoric is every bit as faulty and ignorant as Pelosi's.
