Al Qaeda
leaders release new videos CSMAl Qaeda intensified its
propaganda campaign Thursday by issuing its third video since the sixth
anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. In a lengthy commentary, Al Qaeda
second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahiri urged Muslims to fight the United
States and its allies, targeting the prospect of African Union and United
Nations peacekeepers in Darfur. Later on Thursday, Al Qaeda released a new
recording of Osama bin Laden declaring war on Pakistani President Pervez
Musharraf and Pakistan's Army.
Before
the Volcano Explodes By Charles KrauthammerOn Sept. 6,
something important happened in northern Syria. Problem is, no one knows
exactly what. Except for those few who were involved, and they’re not
saying. We do know that Israel carried out an airstrike. How then do we
know it was important? Because in Israel, where leaking is an art form,
even the best informed don’t have a clue. Circumstantial evidence points
to this being an attack on some nuclear facility provided by North Korea.
Fewer
Foreigners Crossing Into Iraq From Syria to Fight Washington
Post
The number of foreign fighters entering Iraq from Syria
has decreased noticeably in recent months, corresponding to a similar
decrease in suicide bombings and other attacks by the group al-Qaeda in
Iraq, according to U.S. military and intelligence officials. "There is an
early indication of a trend," said Gen. David H. Petraeus, the U.S.
commander in Iraq, in an interview. Border crossings from Syria that
averaged 80 to 90 a month have fallen to "half or two-thirds of that over
the last two or three months," Petraeus said.
'600
Iranian missiles pointed at Israel' By JPOST.COM STAFF
Six hundred Iranian Shihab-3 missiles are pointed at targets
throughout Israel, and will be launched if either Iran or Syria are
attacked, an Iranian website affiliated with the regime reported on
Monday. "Iran will shoot at Israel 600 missiles if it is attacked," the
Iranian news website, Assar Iran, reported. "600 missiles will only be the
first reaction." According to the report, dozens of locations throughout
Iraq, which are being used by the US Army, have also been targeted.
Bush
setting America up for war with Iran London TelegraphSenior
American intelligence and defence officials believe that President George
W Bush and his inner circle are taking steps to place America on the path
to war with Iran, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. Pentagon planners have
developed a list of up to 2,000 bombing targets in Iran, amid growing
fears among serving officers that diplomatic efforts to slow Iran's
nuclear weapons programme are doomed to fail.
Anbar Awakens
Part II: Hell is Over Michael J. TottenIn early 2007
Ramadi, the capital of Iraq’s Anbar Province, was one of the most violent
war-torn cities on Earth. By late spring it was the safest major city in
Iraq outside Kurdistan. Combat operations are finished in Ramadi. The
American military now acts as a peacekeeping force to protect the city
from those who recently lost it and wish to return. “As of July 30,” Major
Peters said in early August, “we’ve have 81 days in the city with zero
attacks since March 31.” (So I guess Michael Totten is also "cooking
the books" for Bush?)
