Story behind the
Star Spangled Banner

(6 Min. Audio)

Sacramento, California is the legal back drop for Prop 8's big day in California court.

Homosexual marriage activists made the claim that 100,000 people would overflow the streets to protest Prop 8. Only one thousand people turned out. On the plaza one California state representative continued the hype claiming that if the court failed to overturn Prop 8, there would be "A million people on the streets fighting for our rights."

The true enjoyment was inside the court room. The justices were tearing into lawyers arguing that somehow the people have no right to amend the constitution to protect marriage. Christopher Krueger, the unfortunate guy Attorney General Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown sent into court to defend his bizarre theories, looked particularly silly. He had to admit to the judges that yes, Prop 8 is an amendment, not a revision, but that somehow the court should overturn it anyway. The most radical moment was when anti-Prop 8 lawyers actually told the court that if they don't strike down Prop 8 they should abolish marriage for EVERYONE in California!

To all Californians: “These folks don’t care about marriage, only about themselves”. It’s not rocket science. Their actions across the state along with their statement in court continue to show their true intent. If it's unconscionable to talk about taking away marriage from 18,000 homosexual couples, then how can they stand there asking the highest court in California to take away marriage from 15 million+ Californians? It’s my way or the highway. This has been the homosexual marriage movement‘s version of tolerance!

Maggie Gallagher, the president of
NOM put it; “Prop 8 opponents are going to have to accept that we win, no matter what, whether you like it or not is not actually a principle in the California constitution. Neighbors' rights need respect also”.

Help to keep fighting this good fight for God's truth about marriage. If you can't support us financially, keep up those prayers and those emails to your legislators. The court has 90 days to rule and it's not over until it’s over. Keep your prayers coming!

Crucial developments did get lost this week in the hoopla over the start of Prop 8’s day in court:

Homosexual activists launched a lawsuit to strike down DOMA, (Defense of Marriage Act). This is the ONLY federal law that protects marriage as the union of husband and wife. It prevents taxpayers from all over the country from being forced by activist judges to treat homosexual unions as marriages. It protects YOUR state's right to define marriage as one man and one woman.

I don’t know about you but I am tired of
8.4 trillion dollars of my money already going to everybody else but me! Now someone else is trying to add more money to this mix!

The legal argument subsequently is to lay groundwork for the NEXT round to ask the federal Supreme Court to establish a NATIONAL right to homosexual marriage. If an overwhelming bipartisan majority of Congress has no right to define marriage for federal purposes because it violates the equal protection clause then STATE governments have no right to define marriage that way either.

Homosexual marriage activists have lied to the public over and over again about their intentions. Remember how in California and Connecticut they SWORE civil unions had nothing to do with marriage? They used those laws to persuade judges to strike down the marriage statutes.

NOM has launched
DOMA DEFENSE FUND to make clear to Washington politicians to keep your hands off our marriage laws! Our first project is send messages to Obama and Attorney General Holder. We want you to DEFEND DOMA in court! If they can ramrod trillions of dollars of failed bail outs don’t think they won’t try this.

Special interests groups are urging Obama and Holder to refuse to defend DOMA, one of the laws of the land. When a special alert was sent out, thousands responded. Many people responded to the point that AG Holder has shut down emails coming from NOM. Does he not want to hear how many Americans care about marriage? Talk about a slap in the face!

Your support makes this happen. Prayers, willingness to spend time contacting politicians and alerting your friends. Your sacrifices of effort and treasure in defense of common sense, democracy, and our right to stand up and speak truth to power about marriage.

May God bless you All.
