Barack Obama is Black
by Paul R. Hollrah

In a February 25 article, NewsMax reports that Nation of Islam Minister, Louis Farrakhan, has publicly praised Barack Obama as the "hope of the entire world," and that, because of Obama, "the U.S. will change for the better."

He went on to say that, "This young man is capturing audiences of black and brown and red and yellow. If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed."

It must have been a "senior moment" that caused Minister Farrakhan to not remember all of his colors. He mentioned black, brown, red, and yellow people but he totally ignored the millions of giddy white liberals, young and old, who are most responsible for Obama’s margin of victory over a (pardon the expression) white woman.

NewsMax goes on to quote Farrakhan as saying that Hillary Clinton "represents the politics of the past and has been engaging in dirty politics."

Dirty politics? Who would have guessed that the Clinton’s would ever engage in dirty politics? Are we to believe that the Clintons are behind the photograph of Obama dressed in the costume of a Somali chieftain that is now a lead story on every network? ("I’ll take the white chick with the cackle; you take the black guy in the toiban!")

What we are seeing is the Democrats’ "pigeons coming home to roost." The Democratic Party is the party of slavery, the party of Jim Crow, the party of Black Codes, and the party of the KKK. Conversely, it was Republicans who ended slavery; who sponsored the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, outlawing slavery and giving blacks citizenship and the right to vote; and who wrote the Civil Rights Act of 1875, which Democrat Lyndon Johnson reincarnated nearly a century later as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Since the mid-1950s, when Democrats decided to abandon racial oppression and, instead, embrace blacks as a newfound ethnic voting bloc, they have consistently treated blacks like stepchildren. They have worked hard at convincing black people that they are innocent victims of white racism and that, without the protection and sponsorship of the Democrat Party they could never share in the American Dream.

Democrats have been very successful in selling that fiction. But now, after decades of stirring the racist pot, mainstream Democrats are now faced with the proposition that the man at the top of their ticket in November 2008 will likely be a black man. How could this happen? Blacks were only supposed to sit on the sidelines, do what they were told, and vote the Democrat ticket on Election Day. They weren’t supposed to be out front, leading the parade.

So now Democrats are forced to defeat a charismatic black man and they struggle with the problem of shifting political gears. Playing the race card against Republicans was always easy; dealing with their own innate racism, without splitting their party down the middle, is not so easy.

Obama’s popularity is a phenomenon, a phenomenon that we should all take very seriously… not because he is the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, but because it contains a very important message for black people. What it should tell them is that, in spite of what has been pounded into their heads for the past fifty years, there is not nearly as much racism in the hearts of white people as liberals, Democrats, and professional blacks would have them believe.

It’s good that a charismatic black man has gotten as far as Obama has because it creates a "teachable moment" for the nation... especially for young blacks. The problem is that Obama is a black man with all the wrong ideas.

Barack Obama is rated by liberal and conservative public policy groups as being the most liberal member of the United States Senate, more liberal than Barbara Boxer, Ted Kennedy, or John Kerry… so there is no shortage of things to criticize. Yet, liberals and Democrats see the color of his skin and they immediately shy away from criticizing him for fear of being branded as racists. They are the victims of their own special brand of racism… the "soft bigotry of lowered expectations."

Conservatives and Republicans, on the other hand, could not care less about the color of his skin. They don’t see him as a black man who is also the most liberal member of the United States Senate. They see a man who is the most liberal member of the Senate and they worry about what damage he would do to the country. For the good of the country, we must hope that all those hysterical sycophants who attend his rallies will stay home on Election Day.

So, yes, Democrats, it’s time you came to grips with the fact that Barack Obama is black. But it’s your problem… you made him what he is. Deal with it!
