The Census Report page 15 issued this Tuesday stated that 43.5% of the people in poverty did not work and that represented 25.2% of all people. Now don’t get confused that 43.5% does not include the millions of children 15 and younger.
Let’s take a breathe and restate that:
43.5% of adult Americans deemed to be in poverty don’t work at all.
25.2% of all adult Americans don’t work at all
Now anyone that can draw a breathe must realize that America must be one fantastic country when it thrives in spite of the fact a quarter of the population doesn’t work at all.
One would wonder with all these people out of work economic conditions must be really bad. Yet when we look around there are no bread lines in 2008 America. Men are not selling pencils on the streets. Everyone appears to have a cell phone and a lot of friends to talk to.
There is no quantifiable poverty if 43.5% of those deemed to be in poverty get along not working at all. If the politicians are wailing about poverty why don’t they ask the 43.5% to go to work?
Jobs you say, we need more jobs? Clearly there are jobs Americans won’t do – why not ask the out-of-work poverty millions to get off the dole and go to work. There are millions of them according to the Census Bureau.
Unfortunately one political party encourages poverty while railing against it. That party thrives on making more and more Americans out-of-work so they can swell their voter roles with those depending on big government at the same time they are mouthing the class warfare theme that energizes their base.
That party has pulled the greatest sting on a people ever conceived by man. While talking up solutions to poverty, they only put bandages on it to dull the pain. In the meantime they confiscate 15.3% of the lifetime income of the poor and middle-class for a bandage called Social Security which again is only sufficient in amount to save them from starvation in retirement.
Letting that 15.3% be invested in the economy for their working life would make the poor rich at retirement but alas that party will not tolerate that – they would lose their voting base. No that party will continue down the socialist path of consuming the people’s money rather than taking the capitalist path of investing that money to grow the economy and the wealth of ordinary Americans (actually delivering the American Dream).
Today that party is promising to restore the American Dream with one hand and with the other stealing money out of the pockets of poor and middle-class Americans. Their sleight of hand is visibly not magic but the production values of their campaign are dazzling even if staged. Watch tonight when they fill an entire football stadium with suckers who buy their con. Suckers who for this election cycle seem to have suspended their disbelief just like they do at the movies. Unfortunately a handsome man with a great smile will put them in the aisles every time.
